Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the perfect rental:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ocean Front Captain John Fripp Viilas - Awesome Ocean Views!!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Beaufort, SC destination you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
