Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the perfectrental:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 2BR Villa w\/ Ocean View + Private Pool - Steps from Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
