Tricks and tips to get the best Beaufort, SC rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Large Rustic Home for Marine Graduation and Family Fishing has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
