Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- To get the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and pick the right Beaufort, SC rental home:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. New to VRBO! Welcome to Fripp Island and this Newly Renovated Sunsuite! Resort Access Included! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
