Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your family select dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Guest Suite Near Parris Island has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
