Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
