Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to a budget:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by having your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 501 Sunsuite - New to VRBO! Resort Access Included! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If not, email or call the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
