Vacation rental home tips:
Getting the best value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Beaufort, SC area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the best rental:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. 515 Sunsuite - New to VRBO! Resort Access Included! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
