Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Beaufort, SC rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the best rental in the Beaufort, SC area:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. BEAUTIFUL ocean views from 2nd row beach home, includes a golf cart, club cards available. has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
