Our top Fripp Island vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to visit Fripp Island & When to book:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your group agree to dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Golf cart included, amenity cards available, pet friendly - great for young families, 601 Porpoise Circle has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is right for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Beaufort, SC beach you crave, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
