description: Have you ever experienced a Nesting Rookery before? Rookeries are clusters of nests built by wading birds like Wood Storks, Great Egrets, and Tricolored Herons. Cypress Wetlands in Port Royal, SC is a public park that's acts as a stormwater runoff for the surrounding communities but also provides vital habitat for birds and wildlife. The birds like to nest above healthy wetlands where food is plenty and their Alligator bodyguards linger below. The month of June is peak fledging season for wading birds and at Cypress Wetlands we'll be able to have up-close and personal encounters with the various wading birds that are rearing their young. Aside from Wading Birds, we could also see Alligators, Snakes, Turtles, Raccoons and many other wildlife that call this wetland home.
