Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, SC area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • Start by having your family decide on dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Wildlife viewers dream! Peaceful & so clean, golf cart incl., pool across street has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
