Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Find your best deal:
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are high season in the Beaufort, SC area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the perfectrental home:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Sprawling Family Home Near Beaches w/ Fishing Dock & Beautiful Canal Views has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
