About this Property

NOW Pet welcoming!

Welcome to “Heartwood”, a handsome bespoke-constructed home on Fripp Island, the most seaward of South Carolina’s barrier islands.

Fripp includes miles of spectacular beach line, much of which is bordered by undeveloped and unspoiled natural terrain. Fripp Island is located along the Atlantic coast of the Lowcountry of South Carolina.

It is roughly 21 miles from Beaufort, which was named the South’s Finest Modest Town in 2017, 96 miles south of Charleston, 65 miles north of Savannah, Georgia, and 60 miles from Hilton Head Beach.

Owners Shannon A. Clements and David E. Watts named their Southern home “Heartwood” to honor the hundreds of feet of hand-hewn Southern Yellow Pine planks that cover the floors.

The home offers 5 bedrooms: on the first floor, two luxuriously appointed king suites and a bedroom with two bunk beds with a distinctly nautical theme. A bedroom with two double beds and full bath on the second floor, and a separate apartment with a queen bed and full bath for more privacy. The home is generous enough to bring the family but modest enough to comfortably get around.

Southern style-- including the home’s Charleston Townhome design, calming furnishings and tasteful artwork-- is the hallmark of this home.

The dining room table was designed and made by hand by the owner and his teenage daughter and assembled on-site, seats 12 pleasantly, and is a few steps from the 2nd floor screened porch, which has cute vistas of the Lowcountry sunset over the marsh and intracoastal waterway. Heartwood is a brief walk, golf cart or bicycle
ride to Fripp’s vast and private beach.

Kayaks and 6 bicycles are in the garage, along with beach chairs, children’ toys, and a wagon to get your gear to the beach.

The owners recommend getting up early to relish the sunrise over the fine-grained sand of the Atlantic Sea and arriving back at Heartwood to see the Sunset from the 2nd floor porch.

Visitors say they fall in appreciate with the natural beauty of our island in the sun. More than 175 species of feathered friends abound, and visitors see deer running complimentary, dolphins swimming in the inlet and an occasional alligator sunbathing along the banks of our lakes and lagoons.

Fripp Island Golf Resort is the ideal playground for every golfer. Imagined by Augusta’s famed designer George Cobb Sea Point is really a oceanside gem, incorporating the majesty of our spectacular coastline with a challenging course.

The Island’s other course, Sea Creek, was designed by world-acclaimed golfer Davis Appreciate III. This par 71 gem brings you up close to many of our island’s wild feathered friends
and other creatures and provides a postcard-ideal view from every hole.

Heartwood is across the street from the Davis Appreciate III designed course.

We hope that you choose Heartwood for your holiday destination.
