Fort San Felipe, Santa Elena and San Marcos

In 1566, a year after the founding of St. Augustine, the Spaniards built Fort San Felipe and the village of Santa Elena. When Indians wrecked the village in 1576, the Spanish rebuilt the town and added a larger fort, San Marcos.
